Before spending a whole year getting into a degree, it is worth knowing what that degree really is in Spain, rather than what it looks like from outside or what is expected of you at home.
It is the same one to one meeting as admissions guidance, with the focus on the choice of degree rather than on the numbers.
The degrees, without the gloss
Medicine, Dentistry, Pharmacy, Nursing and Physiotherapy look similar from outside and are very different inside. The length changes, the kind of study changes, the practical load, the real career paths and what happens when you finish.
I started Pharmacy, continued in Dentistry and now I study Medicine. I do not say that as an achievement but because I know three of those degrees from inside and I can tell you how they really differ, not how they differ in the brochures.
What to look at and almost nobody does
The MIR and its equivalents. Finishing Medicine in Spain does not by itself let you practise: after it comes a highly competitive national exam that decides your speciality and your city. For an international student there are also specific conditions worth knowing beforehand, not afterwards.
Recognition back home. If your plan is to return, the Spanish qualification will have to be recognised there. That is studied before enrolling, because it changes the decision.
Family pressure. It is a real factor and it is almost never said out loud. It is worth separating what you want from what is expected of you, even if in the end you decide the same thing.

It is not a test or a questionnaire. It is an hour of honest conversation about what you are good at, what you can stand and what you cannot, and what each path means in years, money and demands.
I am not going to tell you what to study. I am going to give you the information I did not have, so that you make the decision with your eyes open.

Frequently asked questions
Is this therapy or psychological support?
No, and that matters. It is peer guidance based on my own experience. If something comes up in the conversation that needs a professional, I say so plainly.
What if I am already in a degree and having doubts?
It is a perfect moment for this conversation. Changing in first year costs far less than finishing something you did not want, and credit recognition routes exist. I changed twice.
Can I bring my family to the session?
Yes, and sometimes it helps a great deal. Talking through what each degree really involves, all together, avoids difficult conversations later on.
